No Malaria?
We 
have not had a single problem with mosquitoes or malaria on our trip. At Japamala, they claim to have mosquitoes but they do not carry malaria. We have yet to see or hear a single mosquito.
At night when they come out, the restaurant is barricaded by citronella candles all around, so we never see them there, and while we feast on fine Thai food housekeeping goes up to our rooms and light candles with lotus oil and turns on a little anti-mossie device that heats up little pellets that seem to work wonders at keeping them at bay.
Mix in a few bug-munching geckos on the walls inside and the Royal Malaysian “Bat” Air-force that are constantly swooping by our deck to munch on the odd stray mossie and I would say that they pretty much have things well under control.
